What is FridgeCal?

FridgeCal is a simple family travel calendar that works through email. At Third South Capital, we have family and friends spread across different cities. We needed a simple way to track when family members would be traveling—something as easy as the old calendar on the fridge, but accessible from anywhere.

Just email your travel plans to hi@fridgecal.com, and they automatically appear on a shared calendar that everyone can access. No new apps to learn, no complex features—just simple family coordination.

Simply enter your email address and calendar name on the signup page. You'll receive a welcome email with:

• Your calendar URL (works with iPhone, Google Calendar, Outlook)
• Complete setup instructions
• Examples of how to use FridgeCal

The calendar works with any calendar app—just add the URL as a subscription.

As the calendar admin, send an email to hi@fridgecal.com with the subject line "ADMIN":

You can also write "add harrison@example.com and call him Harrison" or any natural variation.

Email hi@fridgecal.com with your travel plans using simple formats:

• "NYC 10/5-10/8" - Trip to NYC from Oct 5-8
• "Golf trip - 10/15-10/17" - Golf trip from Oct 15-17
• "Richmond 9/18-9/21" - Trip to Richmond
• "Conference in Boston - 11/1-11/3"

FridgeCal understands natural language, so write however feels comfortable to you.

Three ways to check your calendar:

• Visit your calendar URL (sent in the welcome email)
• Add to your calendar app - iPhone Calendar, Google Calendar, Outlook all work
• Ask by email - "Where is everyone next week?" or "What are Mom's plans?"

The calendar updates automatically when anyone adds or cancels trips.

Email hi@fridgecal.com with cancellation phrases like:

• "Cancel NYC trip"
• "Cancel my trip on 10/5"
• "Skip the golf trip"
• "Actually staying home 10/5"
• "Nevermind about Boston"

FridgeCal will find and remove the matching event from your calendar.

Always email hi@fridgecal.com for everything:

• Adding trips and events
• Canceling or changing plans
• Asking about schedules
• Admin commands (managing users)
• Questions or help

One email address, all your calendar needs.

As the calendar admin (the person who created it), you can:

• Add family members - Give others access to add their trips. When adding users, choose how they'll appear on the calendar: 'add mom@gmail.com as Mom' or 'add sarah@gmail.com as Sarah' or any name you prefer.
• Remove users - Remove someone's access
• List all users - See who has access
• Universal delete - Delete all events (be careful!)
• Set display names - Control how people appear on the calendar

Regular users can add/cancel their own trips and change their own display name.

Send an email to hi@fridgecal.com with Subject: ADMIN and commands like:

• "add mom@gmail.com as Mom" - Add a new user
• "remove dad@gmail.com" - Remove a user
• "list users" - See all calendar users
• "delete all events" - Clear the entire calendar
• "call me Dad" - Change your own display name

FridgeCal understands natural variations of these commands.

Anyone can change their own name: Email hi@fridgecal.com with "call me Harry" or "my name is Sarah"

Admins can set names when adding users: "add email@example.com as PreferredName"

This lets family members appear however they want on the calendar—"Mom", "Dad", "Harrison", "Sarah", etc.

Yes! FridgeCal is currently free while in beta. We're focused on making it work perfectly for families before considering any pricing.

What FridgeCal is NOT for:

• Instant updates (calendar apps sync every 15-60 minutes)
• Time-specific events (we only do all-day events)
• Complex recurring events
• Meeting invites with RSVPs

Calendar Privacy: Anyone with your calendar link can view it. Only share with trusted family and friends.

Your calendar URL acts like a shared document link—keep it within your family circle.
